Habib Samady, MD
Dr. Samady is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology and director of interventional cardiology at Emory University. His lab focuses on coronary artery disease, in particular coronary plaque progression, rupture and erosion. They evaluate and treat endothelial dysfunction and epicardial and microvascular atherosclerosis in cardiac catheterization laboratory. In collaboration with colleagues at Georgia Tech, they investigate the predictors of coronary atherosclerosis progression. Other areas of focus include the evaluation of pharmacologic therapies on coronary epicardial and microvascular function and the biomechanics of coronary vascular devices such as metallic stents, bioabsorbable platforms, as well as other novel technologies. In their time off, his family (his wife, an anesthesiologist at Emory, and their three children aged 10, 8, and 6) enjoys traveling abroad, skiing, and hiking.
