*NOSI: Innovative Technologies for Research on Climate Change and Human Health

This NOSI encourages Phase I (R43), Direct to Phase II (R44), Fast-track (R44) and SBIR and STTR Phase I (R41) and Phase II (R42) grant applications from SBCs to develop commercializable tools, resources, and approaches to capture the effects of climate change and the associated impacts of extreme weather events on human health, and to support adaptation or mitigation strategies to minimize health hazards and impacts from climate change.

*Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Pilot Projects – LOI Due February 26; REC Training Awards Due March 18

Areas of research can range from basic and clinical investigations to education, lifestyle, and caregiving. Studies of pre-clinical phases of disease and approaches useful in differentiating disease processes from normal aging, as well as multi-etiology dementia, early interventions, imaging & biomarkers, and minority issues are encouraged. Projects are intended for advanced graduate students, new/early-stage investigators, or established researchers seeking new directions; applications from women and minorities are encouraged.

Emory SOM Imagine, Innovate and Impact (I3) Cores Awards RFP – Due March 14

Emory SOM is soliciting proposals to use the Emory Integrated Core Facilities (EICF; full list here) to facilitate innovative research. This mechanism will provide funding support to utilize the existing services and technologies offered by the nineteen EICF cores with the goal of generating data for research projects.  Faculty members from across the WHSC, including all Schools, Centers, and Institutes are encouraged to apply.

RNA Delivery Technologies to Allow Specific Tissue Target Homing (RNA-DASH) – Due April 5

This funding opportunity aims to support the development and/or pre-clinical studies of non-viral technologies to deliver RNA-based therapeutics into disease-relevant cells and tissues in vivo. Projects may focus on a single or multiple cells or tissues. Emphasis will be placed on organs, tissues and cell types that are clinically relevant but for which no effective in vivo delivery technologies are currently available.

Georgia CTSA Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design RFP – Due April 12

Georgia CTSA’s Biostatistics, Epidemiology & Research Design program is soliciting proposals to support novel methodological research in biostatistics, epidemiology, or health services research to advance clinical & translational research. Review criteria include quantitative methodological research to fill gaps, innovation, feasibility, and plans for dissemination & translation. New investigators are encouraged to apply.

Phlebotomy 101 Training – March 28 & 29

Phlebotomy 101 is a two-day introductory classroom and clinical hands-on training that teaches the techniques of venipuncture. Led by the GCRC nurses, the course is offered to Georgia-CTSA affiliated partners.

Georgia CTSA TL1 (T32-like) Training Grant Clinical and Translational Research Training - Postdoc Due March 15

The TL1 program is focused on providing innovative didactic and mentored clinical and translational research (CTR) training to individuals interested in careers that encompass CTR and clinical and translational science (CTS). The TL1 program supports predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees (medical, PharmD and PhD students; resident and fellow physicians; PhD postdocs; and PharmD residents). View recording of TL1 Application Workshop held on November 2.

Emory T32 Post-Doctoral Training Program to End the HIV Epidemic – Interest Form Due April 12

The goal of this program is to train post-doctoral candidates from diverse backgrounds and disciplinary expertise in health services research, through utilization of a multidisciplinary approach to expose trainees to multiple methods and research areas, from epidemiology and biostatistics to behavioral and social sciences, biological sciences, and health policy and implementation. The program has a special emphasis on research addressing disparities or inequities based on factors such as race/ethnicity, sex/gender, socioeconomic status, geographical residence, healthcare access, and physical/mental disability. The Certificate Program in Translational Science (CPTS) is a formal 16-credit Emory Laney Graduate School program for trainees who seek to conduct research at interface between basic and translational science and clinical medicine. The CPTS enhances and transforms translational research training for predoctoral PhD students, postdoctoral fellows (PhD or MD) & junior faculty at Emory, MSM, Georgia Tech & UGA.
