Georgia CTSA Innovation Catalyst Director Wilbur Lam Appointed Emory’s First Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship

Congratulations to Georgia CTSA Innovation Catalyst Director Wilbur Lam, MD, PhD, professor, Pediatrics, Emory; professor and Research Chair, Coulter BME Emory and Georgia Tech; Associate Dean of Innovation, Emory SOM; and Chief Innovation Officer, Children’s; named inaugural Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship, Emory. “The concept of entrepreneurship is about taking an idea you have, using it, translating it, and affecting as many people as possible,” says Lam.

NOFO: Preclinical Proof of Concept Studies for Rare Diseases – LOI Due May 1

NOFO provides funding to conduct efficacy studies in an established rare disease preclinical model to demonstrate that a proposed therapeutic agent warrants further development. In addition to preclinical efficacy, accompanying pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic studies would be supported. Therapeutic agents include small molecules, biologics or biotechnology-derived products. The goal of this NOFO is to spur therapeutic development for a variety of rare diseases by advancing projects to the point where they would attract subsequent investment supporting full Investigational New Drug (IND) application development or progression to clinical trials in the case of repurposing or repositioning.

Phlebotomy 101 Training – April 25 & 26

Phlebotomy 101 is a two-day introductory classroom and clinical hands-on training that teaches the techniques of venipuncture. Led by the GCRC nurses, the course is offered to Georgia-CTSA affiliated partners.

Certificate Program in Translational Science (CPTS) Request for Applications - Due May 1

The Certificate Program in Translational Science (CPTS) is a formal 16-credit Emory Laney Graduate School program for trainees who seek to conduct research at interface between basic and translational science and clinical medicine. The CPTS enhances and transforms translational research training for predoctoral PhD students, postdoctoral fellows (PhD or MD) & junior faculty at Emory, MSM, Georgia Tech & UGA.

ATLANTIS Pre- and Postdoctoral Training Program – Apply by May 1

ATLANTIS is a U2C/TL1 training program that provides funds for trainee costs plus access to valuable professional development programming and active networking opportunities.
