HHMI Awards RETCD 2010 Med Into Grad

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) has selected the ACTSI's Research Education, Training, & Career Development (RETCD) program to receive a four-year, $700,000 Med into Grad grant to bring clinical medicine into the graduate school curriculum. As one of 12 new institutions selected for the HHMI program, which includes a total of 23 schools, RETCD and its partners will provide PhD graduate student researchers training that can help them identify pressing medical problems and develop treatments for human disease. Dr. Henry Blumberg at Emory submitted the application in collaboration with partners at Morehouse School of Medicine and Georgia Tech to include Dr. Lisa A. Tedesco, (Emory), Dr. Keith D Wilkinson, (Emory), Dr. Thomas R. Ziegler, (Emory), Dr. Alex Quarshie (MSM), Dr. Doug Paulsen (MSM) and Dr. Barbara Boyan (GT).
