Pilot Grants Available in Environmental Health Sciences-Due February 1

The HERCULES Center in the Environmental Health Department at the Rollins School of Public Health and the new Center for Children's Health, the Environment, the Microbiome and Metabolomics in Emory's School of Nursing are requesting applications for their 2016 pilot grants program on the role of the environment in human disease. Projects can include basic, biomedical, translational, clinical, epidemiological, behavioral, or community-based participatory research approaches.

The Role of the Human Virome in Heart, Lung, & Blood Health & Resilience (R61/R33)-Due August 9

The human virome includes viruses that infect host cells, virus-derived elements in our chromosomes, and viruses that infect other types of organisms that inhabit the human body. The purpose of this FOA is to support research to identify and evaluate the basic underlying molecular and physiological mechanisms by which the virome may influence heart, lung, and blood (HLB) health and resilience.

The Emory-Georgia Tech Healthcare Innovation Program (HIP), in partnership with ACTSI and Georgia State University is pleased to announce a student grant program in Healthcare Innovation. Grants will fund multi-disciplinary teams proposing innovative research and education projects that address issues of healthcare quality, costs, and/or access that are consistent with the goals of the HIP. Two types of seed grants will be offered: Research Project Grants and Education Project Grants.

Course: Biostatistics for Translational Research

Faculty and postdocs are welcome to enroll in a spring semester course which is part of the curriculum in the ACTSI Certificate Program in Translational Research in Emory's Laney Graduate School. Tuition awards are not available, but faculty and postdocs at Emory may be eligible for the Emory Courtesy Scholarship if employed at least one year. This is a semester-long course which meets on Tuesdays from 1:00-2:50 p.m. from January until early May.
