GCRCs Phlebotomy 101 Training

Phlebotomy 101 is an introductory training to venipuncture. The two-day classroom and clinical, hands-on training teaches venipuncture. The course is offered to research coordinators bi-monthly and is lead by GCRC nurses. The course is only offered to Emory, Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), and the University of Georgia (UGA) faculty and staff.

Registration Instructions

The cost for the training course is $603.00 paid with a valid department speedtype or via check if from one of our affiliates (Georgia Tech, University of Georgia or Morehouse School of Medicine). Please read the below instructions to better understand the requirements and to determine if you are eligible for our training program. Additionally, please complete the steps below in order to register for the course.

  1. Must be an employee with one of our partnering institutions (Emory Healthcare, Emory University, Georgia Tech, University of Georgia or Morehouse School of Medicine). If you do not meet this requirement, we unfortunately are not offering the course to you at this time.
  2. Register for the course through ELMS (If you are outside of Emory, please e-mail the GCRC,, so an account can be created for you). When registering, please search for learning code 312233 or Phlebotomy 101.
  3. Complete the HLC training module.
  4. Complete the GCRC Phlebotomy 101 Registration Form and upload all required documents at time of submisson.

Required documents at the time of submission include: CPR Certification, recommendation letter from supervisor, updated resume, and HLC Venipuncture Reminders Certificate.

*Note: The Office for Clinical Research offers CPR only for those who need it for Emory Healthcare credentialing purposes. If you do not fit, you can obtain CPR certification from AHA trainer Derek Johnston who provides training on the Emory campus.
