Children’s Joins Forces with Georgia CTSA’s AppHatchery to Develop Nurse-Patient Communicator App

Currently, children with limited English proficiency (LEP) use a Communications Board and point to the need they are trying to communicate. The AppHatchery consulting and development service is helping Children’s improve care for LEP patients by creating a mobile app that combines visual icons and words for point-of-care bedside tasks with audio cues. Patients can hear words for the task in their language, see a picture, and read a description.

Georgia CTSA Clinical Research Centers (GCRCs) Offer Contact Hours for Phlebotomy Training

GCRCs now offer 13.8 contact hours for completing Phlebotomy 101 Training, an introductory training to venipuncture. The two-day classroom and clinical, hands-on training teaches venipuncture. This course is offered to research coordinators and is led by GCRC nurses. Open to Emory University, Emory Healthcare, and Georgia CTSA employees at Morehouse School of Medicine and the University of Georgia. The next training is June 23-24.

Faculty and postdocs are welcome to enroll in a fall semester course that is part of the curriculum in the Certificate Program in Translational Research at the Laney Graduate School. Tuition awards are not available, but faculty and postdocs at Emory may be eligible for the Emory Courtesy Scholarship if employed for at least one year. This is a semester-long course that meets on Mondays from 3:10 PM -5:00 PM from August 29 until December 5, 2022. For more information and instructions on how to enroll, contact Rachel Hardison .

Faculty and postdocs are welcome to enroll in a fall semester course that is part of the curriculum in the Master of Science in Clinical Research degree program at the Laney Graduate School. Tuition awards are not available, but Emory faculty and postdocs may be eligible for the Emory Courtesy Scholarship which would cover tuition for the course. This is a semester-long course that meets on Tuesdays, from 3:10 PM to 5:00 PM from August 30 until December 6, 2022.
