Botulinum Toxin Potency Assay using Tissue Chips (BoT PATCh) – Due Dates Vary

This FOA provides support using the STTR and SBIR cooperative agreement mechanisms for the development, regulatory qualification and commercialization of alternative approaches methods (NAMs) that specifically utilizes the neuromuscular junction Tissue Chips (TC) platforms that will replace the LD50 assay (mouse lethality bioassay (MLB) as a potency assay for botulinum toxin. The NIH NCATS and FDA are partners in this FOA and will collaborate and coordinate efforts with award recipients.

Seed Grants in Healthcare Innovation: Dealing with Pandemics – LOIs due November 1

The Emory-Georgia Tech Healthcare Innovation Program (HIP) is pleased to announce the nineteenth round of research seed grants in Healthcare Innovation. Seed grants will fund multi-investigator & multi-disciplinary teams examining healthcare services and clinical effectiveness involving adult and/or pediatric patients. Awards will support innovative approaches that are consistent with the goals of HIP and address issues of healthcare quality, costs, and/or access, which include (but are not limited to): coordination of public health and healthcare systems in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment; provider-patient safety; clinical preparedness and communication; health policy and disparities. Proposals that include issues dealing with pandemics are encouraged.

NIH RADx® Tech for Maternal Health Challenge – Due November 1

The National Institutes of Health will soon launch the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics Technology (RADx® Tech) for Maternal Health Challenge, a competition offering up to $8 million in cash prizes to accelerate the development of technologies to improve maternal health outcomes for those who live in areas lacking access to maternity care. The challenge will prioritize home-based or point-of-care diagnostic devices, wearables, and other remote sensing technologies to extend care and improve health outcomes during the postpartum period.

Doris Duke Charitable Foundation Clinical Scientist Development Award 2023 – Pre-proposals due November 17

On behalf of the Medical Research Program at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Clinical Scientist Development Award (CSDA) supports physician scientists at the Assistant Professor rank who are conducting clinical research, including research on any disease area, health outcomes, or health services. Long COVID Computational Challenge (L3C) – Due December 15

To complement the National Institutes of Health (NIH) other Long COVID research initiatives, the RADx-Radical (RADx-rad) program at the NIH is launching the Long COVID Computational Challenge (L3C) designed to support creative data-driven solutions that meaningfully advance the current understanding of the risks of developing PASC/Long COVID. Join the challenge to develop, train, and test models to aid in predicting the susceptibility to and likelihood of developing PASC/Long COVID in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Phlebotomy 101 – November 17 & 18

GCRCs offer 13.8 contact hours for completing Phlebotomy 101 Training, an introductory training to venipuncture. The two-day classroom and clinical hands-on training teaches venipuncture. This course is offered to research coordinators and led by GCRC nurses. Open to Emory University, Emory Healthcare, and Georgia CTSA employees at MSM and UGA. The next training is on November 17 & 18. Advanced Registration Required: Register in Register in ELMS (Emory Learning Management System) .

Georgia CTSA KL2-Mentored Clinical and Translational Research Scholars Program – Due February 1

The goal of the KL2 Scholars program is to support and enhance career development for junior faculty (MD, PhD, MD/PhD, PharmD) committed to a career in clinical and/or translational research. Georgia CTSA is committed to assisting junior faculty at partner institutions to become independent, established, and ethical clinical and/or translational research investigators. Georgia CTSA TL1 (T32-like) Training Grant Clinical and Translational Research Training - Predoc Due February 15, Postdoc Due March 15

The TL1 program is focused on providing innovative didactic and mentored research training to individuals interested in careers that encompass clinical and/or translational research. The TL1 program supports predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees (medical and PhD students, resident and fellow physicians, PhD postdocs, and PharmD residents). The National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C) public health browser provides interactive views of N3C Research Program participant data. These dashboards offer policymakers access to high-value health data and investigators access to a snapshot of the clinical status of COVID as well as a signal for further investigation within the N3C open science Enclave. RADx COVID-19 Research Testing Site at Executive Park

Emory, Georgia Tech, and Children’s are working with NIH’s Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) program to evaluate and bring more COVID tests to market and recently opened a new COVID testing site at 59 Executive Park South NE. Symptomatic individuals who agree to participate in the research will receive a $50 gift card and no cost PCR COVID test. Learn more .
