ACTSI Investigator Dr. Abhinav Goyal in the News

Abhinav Goyal, MD, MHS
Dr. Goyal is an ACTSI investigator and assistant professor in the Division of Cardiology, Emory University School of Medicine, based at Emory University Hospital-Midtown. He was the recipient of the Outstanding Scientific Citation for Early Career Faculty Award in Clinical and Translational Research. His article, “Serum Potassium Levels and Mortality in Acute Myocardial Infarction” was published in JAMA in January 2012 and reported two surprising findings: that potassium concentrations at the upper limits of “normal” levels were associated with the same level of mortality as low levels of potassium; and that the optimal range of potassium appears not to be the current standard of care but instead lower.
